Latest U.S. election polls | Harris overtakes Trump, "Harris deal" heats up
uSMART盈立智投 08-13 11:00

On June 27, just over a month after the first debate of the US election, the situation suddenly changed. Trump was assassinated, Biden withdrew from the race, Harris took over, and so on. As Harris took over the banner of the Democratic Party, Trump's advantage was greatly weakened, and Harris's support rate increased significantly. This has reshaped the campaign landscape in the U.S. election. According to data from the prediction platform Polymarket, Harris has a 52% chance of winning, slightly better than Trump's 45%. Compared with two weeks ago, Harris's winning rate is a significant change. At that time, Trump's winning probability was as high as 64% and Harris's was 29%.

At the same time, the latest polls show that voters trust Harris more than Republican presidential candidate Trump when it comes to handling the domestic economy. This is the first time on record that a Democratic presidential candidate has surpassed Trump.

On August 11, the results of a poll of 1,001 voters were released. This poll jointly conducted by the Financial Times and the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan showed that 42% of the voters surveyed were in favor of handling the economy. Trust Harris, 41% of respondents trust Trump.

This is the first time a Democratic presidential candidate has overtaken Trump since the Financial Times and the University of Michigan Ross School of Business kept records. In comparison, last month's poll showed that only 35% of voters surveyed said they approved of U.S. President Joe Biden's handling of the economy, far behind Trump's 41%.

That's a very slim lead, though, even within the poll's margin of error of plus or minus 3.1 percentage points. But this marks a change of direction.
