金融大佬遺孀把10億美元伯克希爾股票全捐了!
一位金融大佬的遺孀露絲·戈特斯曼宣佈鉅額捐贈,捐出價值10億美元的伯克希爾哈撒韋股票。
這位老人的丈夫名為大衞·戈特斯曼,是華爾街投資公司“第一曼哈頓”創始人,也是股神巴菲特的親密門徒。兩人1963年相識,在巴菲特的指導下,戈特斯曼累積了大量的伯克希爾-哈撒韋公司股份,佔總股份的1%,是僅次於巴菲特的第二大個人股東。
在《史蒂夫之後:蘋果如何成為一家萬億美元公司並失去了靈魂》一書中,還曾提到過一則與大衞·戈特斯曼有關的趣事:人們想不到的是,巴菲特在2016年大舉買入蘋果這家科技公司的起因,最早就來自於戈特斯曼。
當年乘坐出租車時,大衞·戈特斯曼的iPhone手機遺落在出租車上,這讓他惶恐不安。巴菲特聽説了這件事後,對於他朋友如此鍾愛一件物品感到十分吃驚,於是股神決定對和其產品好好研究一番。
2022年9月,96歲的大衞·戈特斯曼去世。露絲表示當時意外地發現,丈夫留下了一大筆伯克希爾哈撒韋的股票,遺囑非常簡單:“用它做你認為對的任何事。”
當得知遺產的具體規模後,感到十分震驚。面對這筆鉅額遺產,她幾乎沒有猶豫,決定將其全部捐贈。
露絲本週作出決定,將這筆錢全部捐贈給阿爾伯特·愛因斯坦醫學院,該學院位於紐約市最貧窮的布朗克斯區。該醫學院在一份新聞稿中表示,露絲捐贈的數額如此之大,將永久免除所有學生的學費。
據報道,該醫學院一年的學費超過5.9萬美元,很多畢業生的債務超過20萬美元。美國醫學院協會數據,2023年美國醫學生的貸款債務中位數達到了20萬美元,同年應屆畢業生的平均債務為201490美元。
2023年11月21日,伯克希爾·哈撒韋公司在監管文件中披露,巴菲特再度向四家慈善機構捐贈了約8.66億美元的伯克希爾-哈撒韋股票。
就在同一日,巴菲特罕見地向股東發出了一封信,他在信中指出,去世後,99%以上的財富將捐給慈善機構,而伯克希爾公司已經有合適的CEO繼任者。巴菲特表示,他的三個孩子霍華德、蘇珊和彼得是他遺囑的執行人,並將成為慈善信託基金的受託人,該信託將獲得他幾乎所有的財富。他在信中説:“93歲的我感覺良好,但也充分意識到自己在打加時賽了。”
