美国消费不行了?零售巨头塔吉特一季度同店销售停滞,预计二季度会更差

全球最大的零售商之一$塔吉特(TGT.US)$,发出了消费支出放缓的警告信号。

美东时间5月17日,塔吉特公布了2023年第一季度财务业绩。财报显示,塔吉特一季度的同店销售额与去年同期持平,华尔街预期为增长0.2%,而上一季度为增长0.7%;其中,实体店同店销售额同比增长0.7%,数字同店销售额同比下降3.4%。

同店销售额是一项关键的零售指标,追踪开业至少13个月的实体店和在线商店的销售额。塔吉特一季度交易流量只增长了约1%,而去年同期为3.9%。

对于这种趋势,塔吉特的高管表示,由于物价上涨和利率上升限制了家庭预算,消费者正在减少非必需品的购买,转而购买必需品。食品、饮料、家庭必需品和化妆品的销售都很强劲。但他警告称,消费者正在动摇:“进入2023年,消费者对所面临的持续通胀和利率上升的问题有了清晰的认识。”

由于劳动力成本上升、通胀和失窃造成的商品损失,塔吉特一季度净利润同比下滑5.8%至9.5亿美元。考虑到2022年库存减少造成的约7亿美元利润损失,该公司预计将有12亿美元的利润化为乌有,主要原因是有组织的零售盗窃犯罪。

塔吉特董事长兼首席执行官 Brian Cornell 表示:

在去年恶化的趋势之后,我们继续面对库存缩减带来的重大逆风。

市场一直在怀疑,年初强劲的消费者支出趋势是否会持续,消费支出放缓是否迫在眉睫。而事实印证了他们的猜想:由于家居装修热潮正在消退,导致销售下滑,家得宝此前也下调了业绩预期。

塔吉特执行副总裁兼首席增长官 Christina Hennington 对“消费支出强劲”的说法进行了抨击。她表示,美国消费者在权衡家庭需求的同时,仍然面临着取舍的难题。虽然通胀率终于在下降,但消费者的储蓄率和信心也在下降。迫在眉睫的经济衰退,使许多美国家庭感到恐惧。

展望未来,塔吉特表示,预计二季度的销售将继续低迷,可比销售额将出现个位数的下降。基于第一季度疲软的销售趋势,塔吉特预计Q2同店销售额的变动区间中值将为以低个位数下降。GAAP每股收益和调整后每股收益预计均在1.30美元至1.70美元之间,低于市场共识预期的1.93美元。
